About Us

Whanaungatanga Through Culture, Arts, and Passion

At Cosmos Events Inc., we believe in the unifying power of cultural expression and pop arts to connect communities. As a nonprofit organization, we foster whanaungatanga—the Māori concept of kinship and belonging—by bridging traditional culture with contemporary pop arts through shared creativity and passion.

We celebrate the vibrant intersection where heritage meets modern fandom, creating spaces where artists, storytellers, and enthusiasts can explore identity, artistry, and community. Through festivals, workshops, and collaborative projects, we empower diverse voices and inspire meaningful connections across cultures.

Our Values

  • Connection (Whanaungatanga) – Strengthening bonds between cultures and generations.
  • Innovation – Reimagining traditions through contemporary pop arts.
  • Inclusivity – Celebrating diverse cultural expressions and identities.
  • Collaboration – Uniting artists, creators, and communities in shared purpose.

What We Do

🎭 Cultural Fusion Festivals – Showcasing traditional and pop arts side by side.
🎨 Artist Collaborations – Pairing indigenous creators with pop culture artists.
🌐 Community Workshops – Teaching cultural arts alongside cosplay, digital art, and more.

Cosmos Events Inc. is more than an organization—we’re a whānau (family) of creators and culture-bearers. Whether you’re a traditional artist, a pop culture fan, or simply curious, you belong here.

Bridging Culture and Arts Through Shared Passion and Purpose.

The Vision Behind Cosmos Events Inc.

The founders of Cosmos Events Inc. shared a simple but powerful belief: culture and pop arts don’t exist in isolation—they thrive when they collide, collaborate, and evolve together.

They envisioned an organization that would:

Break Down Barriers Between “High Art” and Pop Culture

  • Challenge the idea that traditional arts and contemporary fandom exist in separate worlds.
  • Create spaces where taonga (treasures) and anime, kapa haka and cosplay, gaming and oral storytelling could inspire one another.

Make Culture Accessible Through Passion

  • Use pop arts as a gateway for new generations to engage with cultural heritage—without dilution or appropriation.
  • Empower artists to reinterpret traditions in bold new ways, from digital koru designs to sci-fi-inspired whakairo (carving).

Build a Community, Not Just an Audience

  • Move beyond passive consumption to active co-creation, where every event is a chance to learn, make, and connect.
  • Prioritize collaboration over competition, especially for marginalized creators often excluded from mainstream spaces.

Celebrate the “Why” Behind the “What”

  • Every Cosmos initiative asks: How does this honor the past while pushing creativity forward?
  • Whether it’s a panel on Pasifika mythology in video games or a workshop on 3D-printing traditional patterns, intention matters.

“We’re not here to put on a show and leave”

“We’re here to plant seeds—for artists, for storytellers, for the next kid who needs to see their culture reflected in the worlds they love.”
